THE EXPERIMENT
Some argue that there is no need for a microphone as inbuilt microphones are just as good, for example, your laptop, phone or camera. What do you say?
Well today, we have an experiment for all you readers! We could argue it all we want, go back and forth in opinions, but why do that when we can just put it to the test. Yes, it has been done before, many a times, tests like this can be found all over YouTube! But, just for your own peace of mind, I want YOU to give it a go to find the answer for yourself.
Firstly, make sure that you have the right microphone. Some may ask, are not all microphones the same? Well no; no they are not, that would be an insult to say to a ‘techy’, so heads ups, don’t. You will regret it, and you will most likely have opened a very large can of worms. You want to make sure that the microphone is the right microphone for what you are using it for. If you are not sure, and would like some advice on which microphone best suits your needs, comment below or contact us, we can give you a few tips on what will be the right option for you.
Now that you have sorted out what microphone you need, let’s start!
Pretty much we are wanting to distinguish how much better, or worse the sound is using a microphone.
1.Start by recording yourself directly in front of the device without a microphone. Record yourself for however long you like, but about a minute will suffice.
2.Now, do the exact same thing but with your microphone connected.
3.Head outside! This isn’t totally necessary, but it test it out even more. Repeat the first two steps, difference is you will just have more surrounding noise.
4.Take it further! Again, not necessary but let’s test this to its limits! Firstly, take a few steps back from your device and record yourself without a microphone.
5.Now, in the same position, record yourself but this time with a microphone.
Comment below, we would love to know how your experiment went!
